This trek takes you to Makalu Base Camp (5250 m), now designated as Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area. Mt. Makalu (8463 m) is the fifth highest peak in the world. The Makalu Base camp trek is a true adventure with scenery so beautiful that it will never tire you. The trek starts with a flight to Tumlingtar and heads up the Aurn River valley to Sedua and Num, then crossing Shipton La Pass (4210 m) into the upper Barun river valley for a close look at Makalu and Chamlang Himal. This trek visits one of the most remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal. The Barun valley is a part of a huge international protected area under the agreement between the governments of Nepal and China, which comprises of 2330 sq. km of National Park and 830 sq. km of conservation area in Nepal alone.
Day 01: Fly to Tumlingtar. Trek to Khadbari (1,040m) (4 hrs).
Day 02: Khadbari to Chichila (1,830 m) (5/6 hrs).
Day 03: Chichila to Num (1,490 m) (5 hrs).
Day 04: Num to Sedua (1,460 m) (5/6 hrs).
Day 05: Sedua to Tashi Gaon (2,070 m) (5 hrs).
Day 06: Tashi Gaon to Kauma (3,470 m) (6 hrs).
Day 07: Rest / Exploration day at Kauma.
Day 08: Kauma to Mumbuk (3,570 m) (5 hrs).
Day 09: Mumbuk to Nhe Kharka (3,000 m) (6 hrs).
Day 10: Nhe Kharka to Sherson (4,615 m) (7 hrs).
Day 11: Sherson to Makalu Base Camp (5,000 m) (4/5 hrs).
Day 12: Explore Makalu Base Camp.
Day 13: Makalu Base Camp to Nhe Kharka (3,000 m) (7 hrs).
Day 14: Nhe kharka to Mumbuk (3,570 m) (6 hrs).
Day 15: Mumbuk to Kauma (3,470m) (5 hrs).
Day 16: Kauma to Tashi Gaon (2,070 m) (5 hrs).
Day 17: Tashi Gaun to Pukuwa (1,520 m) (6 hrs).
Day 18: Pukuwa to Bumling (1,160 m) (5 hrs).
Day 19: Bumling to Tumlingtar (860 m) (4 hrs).
Day 20: Flight: Tumlingtar - Kathmandu. Hotel Overnight.
